Hi Networth,
We think you’re groovy, but sometimes you get a little too much attention. Have you noticed the clubs you join becoming more and more exclusive? First, there was ‘HNW,’ then ‘UHNW.’ Frankly it’s getting a little silly. We get it. You are capital “L” L-O-A-D-E-D.
But we prefer to spend our time — and assets— solving the world’s wicked problems, a noble investment. So we’re taking the pledge to put our money where our passion is. We appreciate the clubs, but we’re joining like-minded humans to build a better, equitable alliance for change.
And that PLEDGE includes:
1- Aiming to invest our assets in areas of impact- climate, alternative energy, education, health, housing, humanity— to name a few. There are no limits, and certainly no guest lists.
2- Sharing experiences with other member families and organizations who can improve their circumstances, or those of the families they serve.
3- Acting as a mentor or ally to those on the journeys we’ve traveled— whether related to career, investment, family dynamics and legacy or other areas of shared experience,
4- Offering ideas, opportunities and expertise knowing what goes around comes around and good karma is great.
5- Becoming better stewards of wealth. Making our fringe benefits universal to all, by brainstorming ways that investing in our humanity and planet can be accessible to all. Like education, healthcare and housing, for starters.
6- Having a voice at the table. Remember when you couldn’t sit at the adult table at Thanksgiving and then you could? Well, it’s like that. We don’t need separate tables- shoot, we’ll even stand. Let’s encourage the organizations that serve our needs to welcome more voices in the discussion and address more provocative topics that go beyond investing in crypto, cannabis and opportunity zones. Enough already!
7- Frequent meet-ups at events we typically find ourselves attending, whether investment, family office or philanthropic in nature. We propose we start with dine arounds and break bread over deep discussions in great cities, like Austin.
